The sound of a whistle fills the port of Alexandria, announcing the launch of a ship that hasn’t caught anyone's attention before. But today all eyes are on it. Men, women, and children are standing on the sidewalk, waving to its passengers, and officials came specifically to say goodbye to it.

The ship left the sea of Alexandria. It sailed toward the ocean on a long journey. It gave its back and reveal its name to everyone in Arabic and English: "MABAHISS".

At that moment when "MABAHISS" took its way at sea, it wrote the name of Egypt among the first countries in the field of marine sciences. It is Egypt's first expedition, going to the Indian Ocean for nine months, which will represent the fourth largest cruise in the world after the British "Challenger", German “Valdivia”, and Danish “Dana”.

"MABAHISS" put the basis of a science that studies that vast area necessary for our existence, which was largely unknown, but despite this role it stopped and then disappeared dramatically and strangely.

In the long years of her absence, Egypt didn’t have an alternative to it until the ships "Yarmouk" and "Salasabil" arrived, but with few, short and limited trips. Then the two were suspended for nearly ten years, and they came back again with tasks, some of them related to climate change, searching for fishing grounds, and helping companies with economic projects.

To this day, few people know this world and that Egypt – once upon a time - preceded the most advanced countries. But how did this happen? And what happened after that? And what does it mean to us? In order to know, we had to go to the beginning, revive the story of "MABAHISS" and collect its scattered details, which seemed like a "Hidden treasure" for a trip that was never ordinary.
